Our Story

It started with a conversation

A simple question between a father and son became the foundation for something bigger.

The moment it clicked

Two years after moving into a new flat, my father sat me down and described what life had really been like. Humidity creeping through the walls. Mold forming in the shower. Ventilation so poor you could smell what the neighbors were cooking three doors down.

None of it was visible during the viewing. The walls were freshly painted. The windows were open. Everything looked fine. But living there told a completely different story.

Then he said something that stuck: "If only we could have heard from the people who lived here before us."

The problem is bigger than one flat

That conversation could have ended there. But we started looking into the numbers, and what we found was staggering.

So why doesn't this exist?

You can read reviews before choosing a restaurant, a hotel, or even an employer. But when it comes to the place where you sleep, raise your family, and spend most of your time — you're expected to make a decision based on a 20-minute viewing and a landlord's word.

We thought: if Glassdoor can change how people choose where to work, why can't we change how people choose where to live?

That's how Habitaq was born. A community where residents share what it's really like to live somewhere — so the next person doesn't have to find out the hard way.

What we stand for

Three principles guide everything we build.

Trust

Every review is tied to a real experience. We verify residency, moderate content, and protect the integrity of what gets shared. If it's on Habitaq, it's from someone who was actually there.

Transparency

The housing market thrives on information asymmetry — landlords know more than tenants. We exist to close that gap. No hidden agendas, no paid placements, no landlord-friendly filters.

Community First

Habitaq only works when people give back. Every review you write helps someone else avoid a bad situation — or discover a great home. It's a cycle of shared knowledge, powered by people who care.

How Habitaq works

1

Search any address

Type in the address of a home you're considering — or one you've already lived in. If it's not in our system yet, we'll create it.

2

Read what residents say

See honest, structured reviews from people who actually lived there — covering noise, maintenance, landlord responsiveness, pests, and more.

3

Share your own experience

Write a review about any home you've lived in — past or present. No account required. Your experience helps the next person make a better decision.

Join the community

Every review makes the next person's decision a little easier. Start by sharing your experience — it takes less than 5 minutes.
